Dniprodzerzhynska HPS is the 4th stage of the cascade of HPSs located on the river of Dnieper. Facilities of Dniprodzerzhynska HPS have been under operation since 1963 when the first hydropower unit of the station came into service. The last 8th hydropower unit at Dniprodzerzhynska HPS was put into operation in 1964. The reservoir of Dniprodzerzhynska HPS is of stream river kind with weekly and daily regulation. Area of watertable of the reservoir is 567 km2. Total volume of the reservoir - 2.46 km3. Useful volume of the reservoir is 0.53 km3. Facilities of Dniprodzerzhynska HPS in addition to the building of HPS comprise concrete spillway dam with 10 spillways, earth-fill dams of right and left river banks, navigation facilities, outdoor switch-gear with voltage of 154 kV. Total extent of waterfront of hydro facilities of Dniprodzerzhynska HPS is 36.5 km, their throughput amounts to 20700 m3 of water per second.
At Dniprodzerzhynska HPS there installed 8 vertical hydropower units with total installed capacity of 352 MW. Unit capacity of hydropower units of Dniprodzerzhynska HPS is 44 MW. Hydropower units of Dniprodzerzhynska HPS equipped with turbines of propeller type with unit capacity of 45.7 MW under operational pressure of 9.85 m. Turbines are produced by Turboatom JSC (Kharkiv, Ukraine). Generators are of umbrella type with unit capacity of 44 MW and voltage of 10.5 kV produced by Uralelektrotyazhmash (Sverdlovsk, Russia). The building of HPS is without machine room. The building consists structurally of 8 sections with located in each section hydropower unit covered with removable cap. Output of electricity is performed by means of the circuit consisting of four aggregates, each of which includes 2 generators and transformer. Average annual electricity output of Dniprodzerzhynska HPS amounts to 1328 mln kWh at operational pressure of 10.5 m. Staff of Dniprodzerzhynska HPS totaled to 317 persons as on January 1, 2001. Currently, reconstruction of basic and auxiliary equipment at Dniprodzerzhynska HPS according to the partly financed by the World Bank Project of rehabilitation of hydropower stations owned by Dniprogidroenergo is underway. |
