Reconstruction of main waterpower and electric equipment of the station has been implemented since 1996.

There have been already reconstructed 6 hydropower units. On these units there have been installed environmentally safe turbines and new generators produced by Kharkiv enterprises Turboatom and Elektrovazhmash. As a result of implemented reconstruction, additional capacity of 28 MW was obtained, class of insulation and heat resistance of stator was raised, humidification of reconstructed generators was decreased and their self-ventilation was improved. Leakage of oil through seals of impellers of reconstructed turbines was completely removed. Efficiency of reconstructed turbines raised by 3.5 percent. In addition all air switches with voltage of 110 kV were replaced with sulphur hexafluoride switches produced by Gec Alstom. There were installed and put into operation 7 systems of thyristor excitation of generators produced by ABB, there installed and are currently under operation in all hydropower units 6 governors of hydro turbines produced by Alstom. Till the end of 2001 there will be performed the complete reconstruction of the eight hydro power units that will enable to increase gradually generator's voltage at two hydropower units up to 6.3 kV, to install new unit's transformers and obtain extra capacity of more than 40 MW. On the whole, after reconstruction of all hydropower units is completed, total capacity of Kyivska HPS will increase by 79 MW.

In the nearest 5-10 years it is planned to perform complete technical re-equipment of Kyivska HPS with regard to modern achievements of the worldwide science and technology and to attain full automation of processes at HPS. Introduction of modern electric equipment will enable not only to raise efficiency of the station's operation but also to keep electricity production at advanced level.

Reconstruction of equipment at Kanivska HPS has been implemented since 1997.

During 1997-2000 at Kanivska HPS there was completed reconstruction of switch-gears with voltage of 110 and 330 kV including installment of 15 new sulphur hexafluoride switches of 110 and 330 kV (Gec Alstom) and 4 current transformers (Hafely Trench). Rehabilitation of basic hydropower equipment with increase of its efficiency and ecological safety is planned to be implemented till 2010.

Reconstruction of equipment at Kremenchutska HPS has been implemented since 1997.

During 1997-2000 at Kremenchutska HPS there were assembled 12 generator switches with voltage of 13.8 kV (ABB), that enabled to completely put out of service compressor plant and proved corresponding saving of electricity and labor inputs on its service and maintenance. There have been replaced 6 governors of hydro turbines (Alstom), 1 system of excitation of hydro generators (ÀÂÂ), 12 switches (with voltage of 154 and 330 kV) produced by Gec Alstom and 12 instrument transformers produced by Hafely French. There have been assembled 24 isolators with voltage of 154 kV and 15 isolators with voltage of 330 kV produced by Alfa.

Reconstruction of equipment at Dniprodzerzhynska HPS has been implemented since 1997.

In 1997 - 2000 there was completed installment of 5 sulphur hexafluoride switches with voltage of 154 kV (Gec Alstom), that enabled to put out of service compressor plant of outdoor switch-gear with voltage of 154 kV. There were put into operation 10 isolators with voltage of 154 kV (Alfa), 2 voltage transformers with voltage of 154 kV (Haefely French). There were put into service 6 governors of hydro turbines (Alstom) that enabled to decrease considerably consumption of fuel on regulation and to improve mode of operation of oil-vapour pump of MÍÓ. There were put into service 4 new systems of thyristor excitation of hydro generators and 4 generator switches produced by ABB.

Reconstruction of Dniprovska HPS started in 1997.

According to the plan of reconstruction out-of-date machinery will be replaced, capacity and reliability of station's operation as well as its environmental safety will be increased, new automated systems of control at both unit and station levels as well as systems of diagnostics and supervision over hydro power facilities will be put into service.

The first stage of reconstruction of Dniprovska HPS includes the replacement of 6 hydropower units at HPS-1 (hydro turbines are produced by Turboatom JSC, hydro generators - by Electrovazhmash (Kharkiv, Ukraine), from which 4 hydro power units have already been put into operation. During past three years the replacement of 4 governors of hydro turbines was completed at HPS-1 (Alstom). At HPS-1 and HPS-2 7 systems of excitation of generation were replaced with thyristor ones (ABB). At HPS-2 there were put into service 4 generator switches (ABB). There has been completed reconstruction of outdoor switch-gears with voltage of 154 kV and of 330 kV including replacement of 33 out-of-date and worn air switches with sulphur hexafluoride ones (Gec Alstom), complete surrender of compressor plant and related expenses, putting into service 56 sets of isolators with voltage of 154 kV (Alpha). In the course of reconstruction at HPS-1 there was put into operation automated system of monitoring, supervision and control of equipment's condition at both unit and station levels (Cegelec).

Reconstruction of equipment at Kahovska HPS has been performed since 1997.

In 2000 there was put into service a reconstructed hydropower unit with environmentally clean impeller of a turbine equipped with a new governor of a turbine (Alstom), thyristor system of excitation of generator (ABB), system of supervision, monitoring, control and protection of the unit (Cegelec). There were assembled 16 switched with voltage of 154 kV (Gec Alstom), two voltage transformers with voltage of 154 kV produced by Haefely Trench.

At Kyivska HPSS during 1997-1998 there were performed reconstruction with replacement of 9 oil generator switches of 10 kV with sulphur hexafluoride switches produced by ABB and reconstruction of outdoor switch-gear of 110 kV including installment of sulphur hexafluoride switches produced by Gec Alstom on lines with voltage of 110 kV.
